Diablo

Diablo in the browser can start the shareware demo with no local MPQ. The full game can load your own DIABDAT.MPQ. It is a browser port, not a re-release.

Demo first, full game if you have the file

The shareware demo needs no local MPQ. You can open the port and start that demo without bringing a file. The full game is the other branch: it loads DIABDAT.MPQ from a copy you already own. The file mark is optional. On the own-files checklist the same split is the demo exception, because the demo is a real start and the file is not required.

The full-game file is not hosted here, and there is no guide for obtaining one you do not own. If you only want the demo, skip the file. If the port asks for the full file, it is asking for yours.

You play original Diablo in the browser as a port, not as a re-release. The tab title is Diablo Web. The card name stays Diablo so it sorts with the classic cluster.

Why it is not marked the same as WebXash

WebXash requires a folder before Half-Life or Counter-Strike can run. Halo, Vice City, and Skate 3 also require a personal copy. Diablo is the classic-cluster game that can do something real with zero local data, then do more if you supply DIABDAT.MPQ.

Quake III leaves the file question unknown because the open screen never offers the choice. Diablo offers the choice, so the mark is optional rather than blank. That split is why the checklist has a separate demo-exception chip.

The diagram is original, not a store capsule. It carries three lines you can read before you open the tab: demo without the data file, full game with your file, browser port.
